Since as far back as 1271 the land east of the church has been known as ‘Kirchanger' and a large part of the vineyard was owned by the Mainzer Domkapitel until 1803.

Here the soil is richer in loam than clay. The wines have volume and a lingering finish, but are still characterised by gentle nuance, finesse and great delicacy. The wines mature earlier, but are still suitable for long storage. These graceful characteristics make this vineyard our ‘Hochheimer-Lafite'.
